Fighting Entropy

Image
I often like to talk about this new career I'm in, Fire EMS, as being a soldier of Order. That is, my enemy is not the Taliban, or thieves, killers, ideological enemies. My enemy is entropy, Chaos. And while that is doubly true in my work, it's also true in my daily life. Because so tight is my schedule, and I suspect for many other people as well, that I literally can't afford to let entropy get ahead of me.

It's Been A While

Last post was 2015 - 7 years ago! But believe it or not, I'm still going hard at this, setting and achieving my goals. And I'm proud to say I'm more knowledgable and more resilient than ever. The name of the blog has changed, to something I think will resonate more strongly with the message I try to get across - that progress, not goals is what is most important.   We often get caught up in where we are not, rather than the road so far, and how we got here. So I'm going to take a moment to go over the biggest changes to my life since 2015, and what the future holds in store for me.

Vacation At Last

I'm on vacation in the great Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. It's the biggest state park in the United States at just under 6 Million acres, and it's gorgeous. It's full of rolling mountains, babbling brooks, placid lakes, serene views and a little peace and quiet. It's the first real vacation my wife and I have been on since our honeymoon. Truth is we still haven't been on a real vacation on our own since we've been married (my brother and his wife came along to the ski trip honeymoon - to be fair, they were going first and we decided to tag along, but that's a story for another time).

All About That Tech

As I mentioned in the past, Wifey did not get a FitBit. I have the FitBit Surge, but Wifey has the Microsoft Band. She hasn't loved it as much as I've loved my Surge. Which is why today, I bought her the Charge HR.
